Green Bay Blizzard News Release

The Green Bay Packers of the NFL have long been known for their generosity and their attention to the community in which they have grown and prospered for many years. Today, the Green Bay Packers again came to the assistance of a member of the Green Bay community.

The Green Bay Blizzard is pleased to announce that the Green Bay Packers have made a very generous donation to the Kerry Brown Memorial Fund that was established after the passing of Green Bay Blizzard Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator Kerry Brown last month. The Blizzard, along with other teams in the af2, had been attempting to raise money through silent auctions, pin sales, as well as jersey auctions to help Kerry's three children that are dealing with the loss of their father.

"We are overwhelmed by this donation. It just goes to show you why the Packers are so well respected in this community and across the entire nation," says Blizzard Director of Operations Nick Olsen.

At the August 10th home playoff game, the Green Bay Blizzard, along with the Blizzard ColdFront Fan Club, raised more than $8,000 for Kerry's memorial fund. Teams that are usually eager to slug it out on the field were stricken with the loss of a great man many knew and desired to help in any way possible. The Quad City Steamwheelers and the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Pioneers helped to raise funds at games during the 2007 ArenaCup playoffs.

It is very seldom that a good situation manifests from such a tragedy but it is very clear that with the help of the community and teams such as the Green Bay Packers, the Green Bay Blizzard and the family of Kerry Brown are moving in the right direction.
