Green Bay Blizzard News Release

GREEN BAY, Wis. - The Manchester Wolves got ahead of the Blizzard early and utilized from Green Bay's mistakes to put the Blizzard away 62-48.

Manchester won its ninth-straight game and moved to a 9-1 record after losing to Florida in the opening week. Green Bay dropped its third-straight game, and its second against Manchester this year. The Blizzard is now 6-4 and need a lot of help to win the Eastern Division.

Johnny Turman connected with Lance Taylor on a 45-yard strike to bring the Blizzard within striking distance at 55-48, but the Wolves scored shortly after on a 1-yard jaunt by FB44 to put the game out of reach.

Jake Eaton hit J.J. McKelvey for four touchdown passes and a 2-point conversion. McKelvey added a rushing touchdown on his way to earning the Offensive Player of the Game award. Eaton followed his pattern for the season, completing more than 75 percent of his passes for six touchdowns.

The Blizzard defense, normally strong in the red zone, allowed five Manchester scores in six Wolves' attempts. On the other side of the ball, the Blizzard was only able to convert on 1-of-5 trips into the red zone.

Green Bay has faced many more fourth downs recently, and converting less than half of them. Its third-down conversion rate doesn't shine that well, either.

Turman started the game off slow, having many of his passes batted away by defensive linemen. His accuracy improved when the Blizzard went to the hurry-up offense, but that was all.

Green Bay's Johnny Turman connected with WR/LB Gerald Harris for a 7-yard touchdown with four minutes remaining in the Blizzard within six at 47-41.

The crowd started to get loud after a questionable call on an onside kick and Blizzard ejection after a missed field goal.

Manchester led the game 30-13 at halftime after Rich Ehmke kicked a field goal for the Wolves as time ended.

The Blizzard turned the ball away twice in the first quarter inside Manchester's 5-yard line, once on a Johnny Turman interception and another time on downs.
