Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz News Release
OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz continued to put up points and defeated the Amarillo Dusters 74-67 in an offensive battle in front of 6,914 fans at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City. Craig Strickland was named Offensive Player of the Game on a night when he set a team record for yards passing. He finished the night 26-of-35 for 361 yards and nine touchdowns.
This game was back and forth all night long and the only team that could put together two consecutive scores were the Yard Dawgz. The scores came at the close of the first half and the start of the second half. At the end of the first half, Dawgz kicker Jason ball was sent it to attempt a 38-yard field goal. It was missed to the right and Amarillo's returner Kendrick Walker fielded the ball and fumbled in the end zone, which was recovered by Jeromy Flowers for the score giving the Dawgz the 40-32 lead at the half.
The second half would begin with another costly turnover for the Dusters. Walker was attempting to return the opening kickoff of the second half when he would once again fumble in the end zone and newly assigned Dawgz player Mike Pruitt would recover for the score increasing the Dawgz lead to 47-32.
Jarrail Jackson would lead the Dawgz receiving corps on the night. Jackson would finish the night with 15 catches for 198 yards and four touchdowns.
Offensive specialist Chavis McCollister and quarterback Julian Reese led the Dusters. Reese would finish the night 19-of-29 for 316 yards and eight touchdowns, while McCollister would end up with 10 catches for 188 yards and five touchdowns.
With the win, the Yard Dawgz move into second place in the Midwest Division and into the third seed in the National Conference playoff race. The Dawgz will take to the road next week when they travel to face the Bossier-Shreveport Battlewings on Saturday, June 18th.
