Who says a bee only stings once? A few of them from Cincinnati pierced Green Bay multiple times as the Swarm overwhelmed the Blizzard at the Resch Center Saturday night. A little over 3,100 people witnessed a buzzing aerial attack that had the Blizzard scrambling. Not that the Blizzard didn't do a little swarming of its own â Green Bay incredibly had only 12 fewer yards from scrimmage than Cincinnati. But a host of other factors, notably turnovers and return yards, blew away any chance the Blizzard had of keeping it close. Blizzardman's Take: Growing pains, but opportunity, too
Let's face it. The Blizzard's start has been more painful than anyone expected. And no one around here takes that casually. As coach Jose Jefferson said after the game, "I've felt a sense of urgency since day one; I want to win every game we play." As for me, I've quickly come to love this game in a big way, and I stubbornly insist on finding a positive side to the situation. For you diehards who are with me, consider the upside to being part of an expansion team. For onething, think about how good victory will taste after going hungry for a while. And now is the best chance to lock in great seats for years to come by purchasing season tickets. Finally, the up close and personal nature of this game means that you fans are really important to the success of a team â especially a new one. Where else in pro sports can you say that? So please be there, loud and proud, and let the team know you stand behind them â it does matter. As always, see YOU at the game!
Other Things You Saw if You Were There
⢠The first 1,000 kids in the doors got Blizzard jerseys courtesy of M&I Bank. It was cool to see all those jerseys being worn during the game â the kids looked like real pros.
⢠Ahman Green of the Green Bay Packers was on hand to serve as honorary captain.
⢠Lots more free stuff got thrown into the stands, to the delight of the crowd.
⢠After the game, fans got to go onto the field to mingle with the players, coaches and dance team and get autographs.
