
Green Bay Blizzard Named 2011 IFL Franchise of the Year

Richmond, VA: The Indoor Football League is proud to announce the winners of the 2011 IFL Year End Awards for outstanding achievements throughout the 2011 Season.
Franchise of the Year: Green Bay Blizzard The Green Bay Blizzard earned the Franchise of the Year by being determined by their peers to be the overall best franchise this season. Categories to be considered for achieving this award consisted of attendance, sales, public relations, marketing, and performance on the field, community involvement, and best representation of the IFL.
Speaking on behalf of the Blizzard ownership group (Tom Burgess, John Meyer, Matt Umentum, and Bob Weyers), C.O.O. Art Clarkson said "We feel this award validates we are heading in the right direction and we are very excited about the future of the franchise. We would like to thank the great football fans of Green Bay for making this award possible." Clarkson also praised the work of Resch Center management, the PMI Entertainment Group.
On the field, Green Bay finished the regular season 11-3 and won the Great Lakes Division crown for the second year in a row. The Blizzard are the number two seed in the United Conference and have a first round bye in the playoffs. This accomplishment marks the fourth time the Blizzard have won their division (2006 & 2008 in af2, 2010 & 2011 in IFL) and seventh consecutive year qualifying for the playoffs. Head Coach Rik Richards and several players have been nominated for awards that will be announced at a later date.
Off the field, the Blizzard were also named finalists in the following categories: Executive of the Year, Best Fan Base, Best Team Mascot and Best Media Relations. The Blizzard staff has worked hard to provide the fans with great promotions and quality premium giveaways. With the great support of its fans, the Blizzard averaged nearly 4,000 fans a game and created a strong home field advantage that lead to an undefeated record at the Resch Center.

Green Bay will host a Conference Semi-Final game at the Resch Center on Saturday, June 25 at 7:30pm. Tickets are on sale now at all Ticketstar Outlets. The game on June 25th will be a Fan Appreciation Extravaganza as the first 2,500 fans attending will receive a free gift from the Blizzard. The Blizzard will also be giving away $500 worth of gas compliments of Express Convenience Centers.
