December 7, 2015 - Indoor Football League (IFL) - Green Bay Blizzard News Release

Green Bay, WI - The Green Bay Blizzard have announced that Chris Williams will be the next Head Coach and Director of Football Operations effective immediately.

Williams has led teams as a head coach in the Intense Football League, the National Indoor Football League, the Arena Football League 2, and the Indoor Football League. His most successful stint as a head coach came while leading the West Texas (Odessa) Roughnecks of the IFL, where he won over 70 games and led the franchise to 7 playoff appearances in 8 seasons. Also highlighting his tenure in Odessa was 1 league championship, 3 division titles, 1 undefeated regular season, and a 27 game winning streak. He was inducted as only the third member of the West Texas Roughnecks Hall of Fame in 2012.

Williams has coached a number of players who have risen from the ranks of indoor football to opportunities in the NFL, namely Anthony Armstrong (WR-Redskins, Browns, Cowboys) and Jorvorskie Lane (FB-Dolphins, Buccaneers).

Williams is thrilled about joining the Blizzard, "I am really excited and honored to have this opportunity with the Blizzard. I have always felt that my coaching style mixes well with people who are committed to bringing the best possible product to their fans and community. After seeing how things are done, hearing their plans, and feeling Larry and Kathy's passion to do things the right way; I knew I wanted to be a part of this organization."

Blizzard owners Larry and Kathy Treankler are confident of what Williams can bring to the organization. "We are very excited to have Coach Williams lead our Blizzard football program. His lengthy experience and success in indoor football is impressive and he is a proven winner both on and off the field", says owner Larry Treankler.

Kathy Treankler was very impressed with Williams, "During the interview process, he made a positive impression on every single member of our staff. We can't wait for Blizzard Nation to see coach in action!"

The Blizzard open the 2016 season on the road at the Iowa Barnstormers on February 26 before hosting the home opener on March 6 against the Nebraska Danger. Season tickets and flex plans are available now and start at just $80 for the eight game home schedule. Call 920-499-BLIZ (2549) or visit www.greenbayblizzard.com for more information.
