Great Falls pulls away to defeat Pittsburgh, 112-103

PITTSBURGH, January 8, 2007 - Kevin Pittsnogle scored 23 points and Shawn Hawkins tallied 21 points for Pittsburgh (1-15), but Great Falls (12-5) used a 10-0 run midway through the fourth quarter to pull away for a 112-103 victory in Continental Basketball Association action at the Petersen Events Center.

The game was tied at 89-89 with seven minutes remaining when Great Falls Keith Salscheider connected on three consecutive three-point baskets, including a four point play, to give the Explorers a 10 point lead it would not relinquish.

Great Falls shot 42-76 from the field (.553), including 7-12 from three-point range. The Xplosion finished 38-87 from the floor.

Marc Williams scored 17 points and Marvin Phillips added 14 points for the Xplosion. Great Falls Malik Moore led all scorers with 30 points.

Great Falls won 5.5 quarter points, while the Xplosion picked up 1.5.

The Xplosion set off on a three-game road trip tomorrow and return to the court at Minot on January 10.
