Minot Skyrockets News Release

Minot, ND - January 8, 2007 - The Minot Skyrockets are introducing a community outreach program that focuses on the importance of reading and education. Skyrockets Cheer On Reading and Education (SCORE) will bring Skyrockets players to area elementary schools. The players will read books to the children, discuss the importance of getting a good education, and talk about the impact that reading and education has had on their lives.

The first stop on the list is Perkett Elementary School. Players and staff will be visiting K-5 students on Tuesday, January 9th from 9-10 am. Later in the afternoon, players will be visiting the Little Flower and St. Leo's Elementary Schools at 1:30 pm. Additional schools will be visited through the month of January.

"It is important for the players to become involved in the community, important for the community and the players. Several players have asked when they will be able to visit some schools, and they recognize that they are role models for children. They want to spend some time with the kids and give them a positive message about just how important education is," said General Manager Kim Mueller.

The Skyrockets will also be inviting the elementary students at Perkett, Little Flower, and St. Leo's to attend Wednesday's game against the Pittsburgh Xplosion. Wednesday's game will be the first time Pittsburgh comes to Minot. They will play the Xplosion again on Thursday night. Both games tip-off at 7:05 pm at the Minot Municipal Auditorium.

Fans can still purchase tickets for the Pittsburgh games by calling 839-SLAM. A full season schedule and ticket information is also available online at www.MinotSkyrockets.com.
