
Grand Rapids' MacPherson, Philadelphia's Jackson, New Orleans' Spears, Chicago's Alfonzo Earn Honors

NEW YORK - Grand Rapids Rampage QB JAMES MACPHERSON and Philadelphia Soul WR CHRIS JACKSON, New Orleans VooDoo DB CALVIN SPEARS, and Chicago Rush WR/LB DEJUAN ALFONZO have been named Co-Offensive Player, ADT Defensive Player, and Ironman of the Week, respectively, for Week 4 of the 2008 season.
OFFENSIVE: MacPherson (6-2, 200, Wake Forest) completed 24-of-27 passes for 307 yards and nine touchdowns as the Grand Rapids Rampage (1-2) defeated the Kansas City Brigade (0-3), 92-52, marking the second-highest scoring output in AFL history on Monday night. MacPherson led Grand Rapids on 13 consecutive scoring drives while his passer rating of 153.6 led all quarterbacks in Week 4. The Rampage welcomes the Los Angeles Avengers (2-2) to Van Andel Arena on Sunday, March 30 at 2 p.m. ET.
Jackson (6-2, 200, Washington St.) recorded 10 receptions for a game-high 167 yards and six touchdowns as the Philadelphia Soul (4-0) defeated the Los Angeles Avengers (2-2), 71-34, at STAPLES Center on Thursday. Jackson posted receiving touchdowns of 23, 22, 28, five, 15 and 30 yards as Philadelphia's offense scored on 10 of 12 possessions, including seven consecutive to begin the game. Jackson is the first player to post six receiving touchdowns in a game this season, and holds the record for most games with six-or-more receiving touchdowns with five career. The Soul host the Tampa Bay Storm (2-1) on Russell Athletic ESPN Arena Football Saturday, March 29 at 2 p.m. ET (ESPN2 HD, ESPN360.com).
ADT DEFENSIVE: Spears (6-0, 195, Grambling St.) registered five-and-a-half tackles and a League-best three interceptions as the New Orleans VooDoo (3-1) defeated the Cleveland Gladiators (3-1), 63-24, at New Orleans Arena on Friday. Spears recorded interceptions on three consecutive Cleveland possessions in New Orleans' red zone during the third quarter, holding the Gladiators scoreless for that quarter and allowing the VooDoo offense to hold its 42-10 lead. New Orleans' defense also held Cleveland to its lowest scoring (24) and second-lowest offensive output of the season (271 yards). New Orleans travels to the Pepsi Center to face the Colorado Crush (1-2) on Sunday, March 30 at 4 p.m. ET (FSN Rocky Mountain Local - Live).
IRONMAN: Alfonzo (6-0, 205, Indiana St.) registered two receptions for 12 yards and one receiving touchdown along with four rushing yards and one rushing touchdown in the second half as the Chicago Rush (3-1) defeated the Colorado Crush (1-2), 70-35, at Allstate Arena on Saturday. Alfonzo also notched six tackles as Chicago's defense held Colorado's offense to a season-low seven second-half points. Chicago welcomes the Arizona Rattlers (2-2) to Allstate Arena on Friday, March 28 at 8:30 p.m. ET (AFL NET, FSN Arizona - Delay, at 9:30 p.m. PT; CSN Chicago - Delay, 3/29 at 4 p.m. CT)
