Gove Named Penguins Captain

WILKES-BARRE, PA - David Gove has been named the 13th captain in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins history, it was announced on Tuesday by head coach Dan Bylsma. Gove was chosen by a vote of his teammates.

Gove, 30, has appeared in 433 career American Hockey League games with the Grand Rapids Griffins, San Antonio Rampage, Utah Grizzlies, Providence Bruins, Lowell Lock Monsters, Albany River Rats and Penguins, recording 220 points (95+125). He has also appeared in two NHL games with the Carolina Hurricanes, recording one assist.

The native of Centerville, Massachusetts joined the Penguins on January 31, 2008, when he was acquired by the Pittsburgh Penguins from Carolina for Joe Jensen. Gove appeared in 36 regular season games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton following the trade, recording 15 goals and 22 points. He also added 12 points (5+7) in 23 Calder Cup Playoff games.

Joining Gove as alternate captains for 2008-09 are Connor James and Ryan Stone.
