West Texas Roughnecks News Release
ODESSA. TX, the Got To player of the month has been revealed for March, and April. The players selected are two very deserving players after an incredible first half of the season Jason Johnson and Johnny Anderson. The players were selected by the coaching staff for March and April, but will be chosen by team fans in the future by going to the Odessa Roughnecks official web site at http://www.roughnecksnifl.com and voting. Fans can also chose which player they think should receive the fans choice award. All fans may and are encouraged to participate in the selection processes.
For March the player selected was linebacker #7 Johnny Anderson. Anderson was selected for his huge contributions on defense along with the intensity he brings to the game. Anderson also known as the enforcer of the team plays with as much passion and desire as anyone in the league and is willing to put his body on the line for his team.
Player of the month for April is quarterback #10 Jason Johnson. Johnson with an arm like Dan Marino and legs like Mike Vick combined with his extreme knowledge of how to play the game and win gives you the best QB in the league. Unable to play last season Jason has more than proved himself as the leader of this Roughnecks team, and as a guy willing to do anything to better the organization on and off the field. Putting up Numbers like 100 yards rushing and 183 yards passing against the Billings Mavericks is just one of the perks to having him on your team, Johnson also volunteers his time on his days off to call season ticket holders to make sure the are enjoying the season.
Ed Price owner of Got To Specialties presented both Jason and Johnny with plaques at the last home game Saturday May 14, for their player of the month awards. You can catch both Jason and Johnny in action along with the rest of your Odessa Roughnecks at the next home game Saturday May 28, 2005 against the San Angelo Stampede. The Tailgate party begins at 5:00 PM with kickoff at 7:11 PM.
