Gorillas make roster moves and prepare for this weekend

AMARILLO, TX – The Amarillo Gorillas of the Central Hockey League announced a couple of roster moves today as they prepare for a doubleheader weekend of hockey at The Jungle in the Amarillo Civic Center.

The Gorillas announced that forward Henry Kuster has been transferred from 14-day Injured Reserve retroactive November 27 to the Season Ending Injured Reserve. Kuster suffered a knee injury early in the season.

To fill Kuster's vacant spot on the roster, the Gorillas are pleased to announce the signing of forward Scott Wray. The Ottawa, Ontario native began this season in the United Kingdom in the British National League with the Hull Stingrays. Wray was leading the Stingrays in scoring and helped to improve a struggling franchise in England.

Wray had a career year with the Amarillo Gorillas last season with 26 goals and 29 assists for 55 points in all 64 games. He also had 10 power play goals and six game winners. Wray, an energy player, who brings excitement on the ice with every shift will be in the line-up for this weekends games.

The Amarillo Gorillas saw their five game winning streak snapped by the Colorado Eagles on Wednesday night 5-2 at the Budweiser Event Center. Kelly Miller and Derek Hahn netted goals for Amarillo in the contest. The Eagles broke a 1-1 tie with three goals in the second period.

The Amarillo Gorillas will host the Odessa Jackalopes tomorrow night (Friday) at 7 p.m. at The Jungle in the Amarillo Civic Center. The Gorillas are tied for third place with the Hares in the Southwest Division.

It is faith night and there will be Christian Music played throughout the night. The Christian Contemporary Band Monk & Neagle will be performing after the game. The night is sponsored by AMA Tech Tel and koozies will be handed out.

On Saturday night, the Gorillas host the Topeka Tarantulas for the first and only time this season at 7 p.m. The Gorillas will wear their Christmas jerseys and an auction follows after the game.
