Amarillo Gorillas News Release

Amarillo, TX 10/22/08 - Luke Lynes, a 2006 fourth-round NHL draft pick of the Washington Capitals, has been assigned to the Amarillo Gorillas effective Wednesday.

The 6'0", 189-pound left wing is expected to dress for the Gorillas' game Friday night against the Texas Brahmas. In four seasons with the Brampton Battalion of the Ontario Hockey League, Lynes eclipsed the 60-point mark three times.

After his junior career concluded in 2007-08, Lynes played in two games for the Stockton Thunder last season and suited up once for the Thunder this season before being reassigned to Amarillo.

"Lynes is a player that can put up big numbers at this level," said Gorillas Head Coach Tom Coolen. "His junior numbers were excellent for a good team in Brampton."

Lynes was assigned to Amarillo by the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League.

Enjoy all the benefits of being an Amarillo Gorillas season ticket holder, including pregame meetings with Coach Coolen and one-of-a-kind access to special events! Gorillas season tickets for 2008-09 are available by calling (806) 242-PUCK (7825) or by visiting the Gorillas office at 901 Buchanan in Amarillo.
