Gordon Named An End of Season All-Star

FORT MYERS, Fla. - On Thursday, the Florida State League released the 2016 End of Season All-Star team as announced by League President Ken Carson. Shortstop Nick Gordon was the lone representative for the Fort Myers Miracle.
Gordon, 20, was the fifth overall selection by the Minnesota Twins in 2014. Nick has played a full season with the Miracle and appeared in the second most games on the club (114) while posting a .294 batting average entering the final weekend of the regular season.
The .294 batting average and 133 hits for Gordon currently ranks fourth in the FSL. Nick leads the team in hits, runs (54), doubles (22), triples (6), extra-base hits (31), runs batted in (50) and stolen bases (18). Gordon's on-base percentage of .338 is the highest among players that have been with the Miracle for the full season.
The Clearwater Threshes led the All-Star selections with four selections and manager Greg Legg was picked as an All-Star coach. The Manager of the Year was Tampa's Pat Osborn, who led the Yankees to a first half FSL North Division championship.
Aristedes Aquino from the Daytona Tortugas, a Cincinnati Reds affiliate, was named the Player of the Year and Jupiter's Luis Castillo, a Marlins prospect, was awarded the Pitcher of the Year.
The All-Star teams are voted on by the Field Managers, Official Scorers and the Media representatives or Broadcasters of the Florida State League.
