Inter Miami CF News Release
Inter Miami CF announced today that Gonzalo Higuaín has been named the team's Most Valuable Player for the 2022 season.
The Argentine forward played a crucial role for Inter Miami in the 2022 MLS regular season in what was the final season of his illustrious career that spanned 17-and-a-half years, spending the last two and a half campaigns at the Club. Higuaín bowed out in spectacular fashion, registering 14 goals and two assists in the last 16 regular season matches (from July 13 to Oct. 9) to guide Inter Miami to its Audi 2022 MLS Cup Playoffs berth and finishing as the team's top scorer in 2022 with a total 16 goals, while also registering three assists on the season.
Individually 2022 was also very fruitful for Higuaín, as his efforts saw him rewarded with the MLS Comeback Player of the Year award, as as well as a team-leading five MLS Team of the Week designations (including three in a row), one MLS Player of the Week nod, an MLS Goal of the Week win, and a nomination for AT&T 5G 2022 MLS Goal of the Year.
In all, the striker made 68 MLS appearances for Inter Miami over two-and-a-half seasons after joining the team in the summer of 2020, tallying a Club-record 29 goals and 14 assists in that span.
