MISSOULA, MONT - Former Missoula Osprey first baseman Paul Goldschmidt has received another honor for his monster season in the Southern League, earning the Arizona Diamondbacks' Organizational Player of the Year Award.

The 2009 member of the Osprey joined left-handed pitcher Tyler Skaggs, who was named the organization's Pitcher of the Year, in earning post-season honors.

Goldschmidt earned his second straight Organizational Player of the Year award, joining Brad Penny (1997-98) as the only D-backs farmhands to win it twice. He also became just the second D-back to win the USA Today Minor League Player of the Year Award, joining Justin Upton, who won that award in 2007.

Goldschmidt - who was promoted to the D-backs on August 1 - was second in the organization in home runs, despite not playing the final month of the minor-league season, while hitting .306 with 94 RBIs and earning a Southern League All-Star and Futures Game nod, as well as Southern League MVP - his second straight league MVP honor, after earning the California League MVP in 2010. He played in the XM All-Star Futures Game on July 10 at Chase Field and was the starting first baseman for the U.S. Futures team.

Goldschmidt also made an impact with the D-backs, not only in the regular season, but in the playoffs as well. Goldschmidt tied a franchise mark with a 5-RBI game during a playoff game against Milwaukee, and also hit a grand slam - becoming just the third rookie, and first rookie not in a New York Yankee uniform, to hit a grand slam in a playoff game.

During the final two months of a regular season, "Goldy" hit .250 with eight home runs and 26 RBIs in 48 games with the D-backs. Two of his home runs came off of former Cy Young Award-winning pitchers Tim Lincecum - who served up Goldschmidt's first major-league home run - and Cliff Lee. Goldschmidt also finished with a .333 on-base percentage, nine doubles, a triple, a .474 slugging percentage and an .808 OPS. In the NLDS, he hit .438 (7-for-16) with two home runs, six RBI, a .526 on-base percentage, an .813 slugging percentage and a 1.339 OPS.
