Glens Falls Dragons News Release
Glens Falls, NY The Golden Eagles came into Saturday night's game against the Utica Brewers winners of six out of their last seven and were trying to tack on another one in the win column. Matt Portland (Northwestern) got the start on the mound for Glens Falls.
Had good command of my pitches tonight and got ahead. Stated Portland on his start. Portland dazzled hitters early striking out two in the first. He would finish after six strong innings of work with the shutout intact.
Armand Rugel (Stonehill) came on in relief to pitch the final three innings for the Golden Eagles. All Rugel would allow to the Brewers would be a two out walk in the eighth. Rugel has not given up a hit since allowing a walk-off hit to the Albany Dutchman on June 23rd (nine innings).
The Golden Eagles scored three in the first inning when Garrett Degallier (Tacoma CC) scored on a throwing error, Bryan Ramirez (UTPA) scored on a Josh Anderson (Florida International) base hit, and Anderson Scored on a throwing error.
Glens Falls tacked on one more with a Ramon Laureano (NE Oklahoma A&M) base hit in the fifth. Degallier reached base twice and swiped two bases.
The Golden Eagles are back at home tomorrow as they host the Albany Dutchman with first pitch scheduled at 7:05. The last time these two teams met they played the longest game in league history, going sixteen innings on June 29th.
