
Golden State's Nelson Assigned to NBA D-League Affiliate Bakersfield Jam

NEW YORK, Nov. 14, 2008 Golden State Warriors guard DeMarcus Nelson was assigned to the Bakersfield Jam, the Warrior's NBA Development League affiliate, it was announced today. Nelson is averaging 5.4 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists in eight games, including five starts, with the Warriors this season.
Nelson, 6-4, was acquired by the Warriors on September 9, 2008 having averaged 8.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 19.0 minutes in nine games with Golden State during the 2008 NBA Summer League in Las Vegas. In four games with the Warriors at the Rocky Mountain Revue, Nelson averaged 12.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 5.0 assists.
A four-year contributor at Duke, Nelson was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Year during his senior season when he averaged 14.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.9 assists, starting in all 34 games for the Blue Devils.
Nelson, the season's third player to be assigned to an NBA D-League affiliate, is expected to join Warriors teammate Richard Hendrix and the Jam for the beginning of training camp in Bakersfield this weekend.
