Golden Eagles Walk Off With A Win

Glens Falls, NY - The Golden Eagles came into Thursday night with a new addition to the roster. Josh Anderson (Florida International) came in and went 5-5 in his first game back with the team.

"I just tried to get the barrel [of the bat] on the ball." Stated Ramon Laureano (NE Oklahoma A&M). Laureano hit a home run over the left field fence that gave starter Matt Portland (Northwestern) an early 1-0 lead.

The second run for the Golden Eagles came when Raphael Gladu (College Lafleche) hit a sac fly in the forth to tie the game at two. Gladu would later have a big at bat with the game on the line.

The Golden Eagles then scored three runs in the fifth when Laureano homered to left center again; this time a two run shot that gave Glens Falls a 4-2 lead.

"It felt good, I feel comfortable here." Stated Anderson. Anderson followed Laureano's two run home run with a solo shot himself. Tonight was the first time the Golden Eagles have had two players hit back-to-back home runs.

Down by two after Utica scored three in the top of the seventh answered with three runs of their own. Two of those three runs came on a Braxton Martinez (Saint Louis) two run single that got the fans at East Field on their feet.

Utica's manager was ejected from the game after arguing a pick-off move that ended the top of the eighth inning.

Down By one with two outs in the ninth the Brewers tied it when K'Shawn Smith (Stetson) stole third and scored on a throwing error from catcher Blake Sydeski (USF).

The Golden Eagles rallied in the ninth as Anderson reached base with a one out single; his fifth hit of the game. Buddy Putnam (USF) followed that up with a single of his own. After a fly out to right Martinez worked a walk to load the bases for Gladu.

"A walk off hit like this is a good feeling." Stated Gladu as he hit a walk off single to score Anderson and give the Golden Eagles a 9-8, hard fought win. Matt Eckleman (Saint Louis) got the win for Glens Falls.

The Golden Eagles have two home games this weekend as Albany comes to town on Saturday and Newark comes in on Sunday. The Golden Eagles improve to 11-8.
