Golden Eagles Top Cooperstown to Pull into Tie with Albany

The Golden Eagles came into Tuesday night needing a win to stay alive in the playoff hunt; what ensued was a hard fought 3-0 victory over the Cooperstown Hawkeyes.

Everybody threw really well today, Stated pitching coach Billy Horn, Armand gave us five solid innings. Armand Rugel (Stonehill), Jared Moore (Kansas State), Zach Merciez (Missouri State), and Matt Eckleman (Saint Louis) combined for a three hit shutout.

The Golden Eagles scored first when Kyle Holder (San Diego) drove home college teammate Jesse Jenner (San Diego) with a base hit in the second inning. Javoni Thomas (Walters State C.C.) drove home a run with a ground out in the seventh and Bryan Ramirez drove home the third run of the game with a double in the eighth.

With the Albany Dutchman splitting a doubleheader against the Watertown Rams the Golden Eagles enter tomorrow's doubleheader tied with Albany for the playoff spot. The Golden Eagles are winning 4-0 in the fifth inning of game 1 and need to sweep to make it into the playoffs.

Starting pitcher for game one is yet to be determined and Rick Morales (Siena) will get the start in game 2. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 5:05 at East Field.
