The Golden Eagles battled in a twin-bill against Cooperstown on Thursday night and dropped two heart breaking games. Rick Morales (Siena) got the loss in game 1 and Zach Merciez (Missouri State) got a tough luck loss in game 2.
The Golden Eagles took a 2-1 lead in the first inning of game one when Josh Anderson (Florida International) singled home Kyle Holder (University of San Diego) and Bryan Ramirez (UTPA).
The Eagles scored one in game 2 on a seventh inning on an RBI single off the bat of Manny Forcier (New Mexico JC).
Merciez was a tough luck looser in game 2 as he was charged with two unearned runs that ended up being the difference in the ball game.
The Golden Eagles are back in action on Saturday in a doubleheader against the Amsterdam Mohawks. Andy Cheray (Missouri State) and Zack Hopf (Saint Peter's) will be the starters. Hopf will be going for the single season franchise record in wins as he is currently tied with Shane Davis (6 wins).
