Wilmington, NC - Coach Parker Bangs has signed Oral Roberts University's Matt Whatley and Nick Rotola to play for the Wilmington Sharks in the summer of 2015.

Matt Whatley has posted a .341 batting average through 24 games, including 2 homeruns and 16 RBIs. In the March 18th 9-7 road victory over Texas Tech University, the Freshman Catcher was 3-7 with 2 doubles. Whatley leads his team with 9 stolen bases.

Clearly, Parker Bangs is looking to make the Wilmington Sharks the quickest team in the Coastal Plain League.

Nick Rotola, a Wichita Kansas native, stole a team high 25 bases for the CPL's Martinsville Mustangs in 2014 while batting a shade under .300.

Rotola is a Junior transfer from Eastern Michigan University, and is required to sit out this year before regaining eligibility. At EMU, Rotola started 41 of 48 games in the infield, while batting .268 with 9 stolen bags in 14 attempts.

The Golden Eagles have sent talented players to Wilmington in the past.

Last summer, ORU's deadly thunder and lightning bullpen combination of Kyler Stout and Jordan Romano, were set to take the bump in Wilmington - but Romano would sign with the Toronto Blue Jays organization after being selected in the 10th round. Stout would go on to be named to the CPL's Eastern All-Star Team.

Oral Roberts University is currently in the middle of an 8 game winning streak, and are 18-9 overall, including an 8-1 record in Summit League play.
