Glens Falls, NY - The Glens Falls Golden Eagles and Amsterdam Mohawks met tonight at East Field in Glens Falls for a shootout. The two rival teams of the Perfect Game College Baseball League have been butting heads for the last few years and tonight was no exception.

The Golden Eagles came away from the game with an 11-8 win, but more importantly, they ended their two game losing streak to start the season. As for Amsterdam they take their first loss of the season but managed to put up more offense than their 6-1 win over the Albany Dutchmen last night.

The game started with an offensive outburst from both teams, as Amsterdam's Josh Nethaway belted a two-run shot to left field to put them up 2-0. Glens Falls, however, responded in the bottom of the inning with the help of Dan Zlotnick's sporadic pitching, walking a run home and some clutch hitting by Mike Vigliarolo plated three runs off a stand up double.

The Golden Eagles then nickel and dimed the Mohawks, picking up four runs over three innings, shutting out the Mohawks for the same time period. Pitcher Nick Pivetta left the game at the end of the fourth, giving up only the two run-homerun. Cory Folk replaced him and gave the Mohawks a bit of life, surrendering six runs in two innings to tie the game at eight in the sixth.

Glens Falls answered in the seventh, when Buddy Putnam connected for his first hit of the season which drove in a run to give them the lead. Dylan Bosheers then hit a sacrifice fly deep to center, which scored Vigliarolo from third. Then in the eighth, Kevin Meyers picked up his first hit of the game with an RBI-double, which iced the game for Glens Falls.

Glens Falls never looked back as Jared Cheek, who replaced Folk in the seventh, shut out the Mohawks in the final 3 innings to get the win for Glens Falls. The Golden Eagles will travel to Albany tomorrow to take on the Dutchmen and the Mohawks will take on the Diamond Dawgs at home.

The Golden Eagles will be home Monday against Oneonta for Bingo Night at East Field. For more information and the latest news and notes on the Glens Falls Golden Eagles, please follow the team on Facebook and Twitter and visit the team website at http://glensfallsgoldeneagles.com/.
