Glens Falls Dragons News Release

Glens Falls, NY Golden Eagles starter, and Queensbury native, Ryan Davis (Le Moyne) got the start on Tuesday night and confused Cooperstown hitters through the first five innings. Lead off hitter and Center Fielder Brendan O'Reilly (New Haven) wore the golden sombrero as he struck out four times.

The Golden Eagles got on the board first after Buddy Putnam (USF) singled and scored two batters later on a Raphael Gladu (College Lafleche) RBI single. The Golden Eagles scored three runs in the seventh inning when Garrett Degallier (Tacoma CC) scored on a wild pitch and Bryan Ramirez (UTPA) scored on a Ramon Laureano (NE Oklahoma A&M) sac fly.

The big inning for Cooperstown came in the sixth when they scored five runs, four of which were charged to starter Ryan Davis. The big blow was a Nolan Ray (Kentucky Wesleyan) two run double that gave the Hawkeyes a 3-1 lead.

Ryan Davis struck out seven in five and a third innings of work. Zach Merciez (Missouri State) pitched one and two-thirds innings of relief striking out 3. The Golden Eagles bullpen held Hawkeye batters to just one unearned run on two hits.

The Golden Eagles next play at home on Thursday Against the Utica Brewers and then on Saturday against Albany. Matt Portland, cousin of New York Yankee pitcher Phil Hughes, will get the start on Thursday for Glens Falls.
