Godsey Leaves Lone Stars

Lubbock GunSlingers News Release
George Godsey is no longer the leader of the Hub City's only professional football team. The quarterback notified Coach Mike Buck Sunday morning that he was leaving the Lone Stars and returning to his computer business in Atlanta.
Coach Buck said he would begin the process of recruiting a new QB for the Lone Stars right away. He did not mention any names as possible replacements, but said he would have another quarterback in camp before the Lone Stars next game against El Paso on May 14th.
Godsey leaves the Lone Stars after a sub par performance in Saturday's opening night loss to the Amarillo Dusters. Godsey finished the contest throwing 29 completions on 60 attempts for 285 yards, 5 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. But it was his play late in the game that had Coach Buck concerned. In the second half Godsey went on a stretch where he completed only 1 pass on 13 attempts, and threw an interception to Zach Cresap, which was returned for a touchdown.
Godsey departure leaves Tommy Miller as the Lone Stars only quarterback for now. Miller was a starter for Arkansas State in college, but has never played in an indoor football game.
