Goaltender Daren Machesney Recalled to Hershey

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays, proud ECHL affiliate of the Washington Capitals, announced today that goaltender Daren Machesney has been called up to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Machesney, 25, went 11-9-0 with a 2.28 goals-against average (GAA) and .921 save percentage in 20 games with the Stingrays during the 2011-12 regular season. In two postseason contests, the Hamilton, Ontario, native is 1-1 with 1.51 GAA and .935 save percentage. During his pro career, Machesney has seen AHL action with the Bears, Manitoba Moose, Springfield Falcons and Worcester Sharks grabbing a 51-42-5 record with a 3.01 goals-against average and .896 save percentage in 112 games. The 6-foot, 185-pound goaltender was selected by the Capitals in the fifth round (143rd overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
