GLVC Tournament Opens Thursday at GCS Ballpark

The Great Lakes Valley Conference Baseball Tournament opens Thursday, May 7th at GCS Ballpark. The GLVC, a 13 team NCAA Division II affiliate, returns to GCS Ballpark for the fourth consecutive year.

The tournament, sponsored by the Village of Caseyville and Mizuno is a six team, double-elimination tournament that spans Thursday through Sunday. The top six teams in the conference qualify for the post-season classic.

The first game of the tournament takes places at 12:00 p.m. Thursday between Rockhurst University and the University of Indianapolis. Game two follows at 3:00 p.m. and features Bellarmine University and the University of Southern Inidiana. The final game for Thursday is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. between Quincy University and Northern Kentucky University. Friday and Saturday follow the same time schedule with games at 12:00, 3:00, and 6:00 p.m. and Sunday's championship game takes place at 12:00 p.m. If a second game is necessary, it will be played immediately following game one.

Tickets for the tournament are available at the GCS Ballpark box office. An all-tournament pass can be obtained for $25. Single day, all day passes are available for $10 for adults, $5 for students with college I.D., $5 for youths K-12, and children five and under are free. Sunday's championship game tickets are available for $8 for adults, $3 for students with college I.D., $3 for youths K-12, and children five and under are free.

The Grizzlies begin their ninth Frontier League season May 22 when they host the River City Rascals at 7:05 p.m.
