Gláuber "not worried" as he sits on four cautions

A towering force in the center of the Crew's defense, Gláuber has made his presence known to forwards around the League in his first season with the Black & Gold.

Through his first eight matches in Major League Soccer, the Brazilian has racked up four yellow cards as a result of making that presence known. Facing the likes of Thierry Henry and Fabián Espíndola of the New York Red Bulls on Saturday (4:00 p.m. ET/NBC Sports Network), the 6-foot-3 centerback will not change his physical style of defending despite a one-match suspension looming that would come with his next caution.

"I'm not thinking about [a fifth caution]," Gláuber frankly explained. "I try to do my best in all of the games. If I receive one more yellow, I don't think it is a problem because we have big players to substitute in. I'm not worried."

The Brazilian's partner in central defense, Chad Marshall, expects the same play out of Gláuber on Saturday as well. Though Marshall has never been booked more than twice in a season, the two-time MLS Defender of the Year knows playing with worry can only affect a Gláuber's play negatively.

"He can't change the way he plays," Marshall said. "You can't think about it. If you pick up the fifth (caution) and you've got to sit out, then so be it. But I don't think you can change the way you play because then you're tentative and you're not as effective as you normally are."

Whether all of Gláuber's bookings have been warranted or not, Crew Head Coach Robert Warzycha says cautions are part of the game. The Head Coach appreciates the effort the Brazilian has brought to the Black & Gold backline this season.

"It's part of the game and you've got to go with it," Warzycha said. "He's playing hard. Sometimes yellow cards are supposed to be called, sometimes they're not. He's playing hard and he's been good for us."

Adjusting to MLS' physical nature has been a smooth transition for Gláuber, who had previously played in the German Bundesliga, Romanian La Liga and Barclays Premier League. The team's emphasis on powerful defending in training has helped the Brazilian learn the style of the League.

"I think in the continuing of the season, I will get stronger because in trainings here we work more with power," he said.

"In other countries, we run a lot. Here, the defense works a lot on power."
