
Glenboro's Tosh to be honored

Brandon, Manitoba -- The Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings, in conjunction with Manitoba Blue Cross, has announced plans to recognize Sport Manitoba's Volunteer of the Year at this Friday's game against the visiting Saskatoon Blades at the Keystone Centre.
The Sport Manitoba award is presented to a sport volunteer in the Westman Region for their significant contributions to the enhancement and development of amateur sport and this year's winner - Glenboro's Glen Tosh - is the epitome of the community volunteer.
Glen's resume is both long and impressive. In 2005, he coached the local high school hockey team, was behind the bench for the minor bantam development hockey club, served as a director for Hockey Manitoba, was President of the Tiger Hills Hockey League and for the past five years, has served as a player/coach with the Cypress River Comets Intermediate Baseball team.
Previously, he coached senior hockey and led his club to the 2004 Provincial B Championship - Glenboro's first in thirty years.
Over the years, Glen has coached bantam baseball, high school baseball, badminton, the high school girls volleyball program (they won a Provincial title in 1996) as well as being involved in the community's junior golf program.
As if that wasn't enough, Glen has served as President of the Glenboro Golf and Country club (also captured the Club Championship 3 of the last six years), Chairman of the Glenboro Community Development Corporaation and Board Member of the Glenboro and Area Community Foundation.
A lifelong resident of Glenboro, Glen is about to make a move to Brandon where he will manage the new branch of the Westoba Credit Union at the new Corral Centre.
The presentation will be made by representatives of both Manitoba Blue Cross and Sport Manitoba during Friday's WHL game at the Keystone Centre.
Tosh becomes the fifth and final Manitoba Blue Cross Performer of the Month recipient for the 2005-06 season. During the past two seasons, fans have been given the opportunity to visit the hockey club's official web site and nominate coaches, volunteers, officials for this prestigious award.
On the ice, the Wheat Kings travel to Winnipeg Wednesday night for the first of three "home" games in four nights. Following tonight's game, the Wheat Kings will return home to play Saskatoon on Friday, before closing out a 2-game weekend series with the Blades at the MTS Centre on Saturday night.
Brandon has a total of fourteen Manitobans on this year's club including three from Winnipeg - Ryan Reaves, Codey Burki and defenceman Stephane Lenoski.
Tickets to Wednesday's game are on sale now at the MTS Centre box office, by calling 780-3333 or online at ticketmaster.ca Fans purchasing a ticket at the box office for tonight's game, can also receive a ticket to Saturday's game vs. Saskatoon at half price.
