Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks News Release
FARGO, ND - The Gary SouthShore RailCats defeated the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks 7-0 on Saturday night at Newman Outdoor Field behind an outstanding performance from starting pitcher Willie Glen. Glen (4-2) threw just his fourth complete game and second shutout in a nine year career, and in the process collected his 900th career strikeout. Glen struck out seven RedHawk hitters and only issued one free pass on the night.
Gary (20-16) first baseman Mike Rohde was 2-for-3 with three RBI while Mike Massaro and Tanner Townsend each had three hits for the RailCats.
Coming into the game, Fargo-Moorhead ace Chad Rhoades (3-2) was 3-0 with a 1.64 ERA in four starts at Newman Outdoor Field. However, Gary was able to get to him early, smacking eight hits while scoring six runs (three earned) and sending Rhoades to the showers after just the third inning.
The RedHawks (20-12) also committed two costly errors, allowing four of Gary's seven runs to score unearned.
The two teams will wrap up their four game series tomorrow afternoon at Newman Outdoor Field starting at 1:00pm. Scott Fogelson (3-1, 3.58) will start for the RedHawks while RailCats manager Greg Tagert has yet to announce a starting pitcher.
