Atlanta Gladiators News Release

Goals: Anthony Aquino broke the Gladiators two game scoreless streak in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Columbia Inferno. Aquino's 16th goal of the season came 3:18 into the game to break the drought.

Reassigned: Rookie forward Kevin Doell was reassigned to the Gladiators on Thursday from the AHL's Chicago Wolves. While in Chicago, Doell tallied a goal and an assist in six games. In his first game back, Doell continued right where he left off before being recalled by adding an assist on the Gladiators first goal on Friday night.

Without missing a beat! Gladiators forward Kevin Doell picked up right where he left off when he was called up to the Chicago Wolves. The rookie had assists in each game since being reassigned to the Gladiators to continue a point-scoring streak that was on going at the time of his recall. His streak now stands at nine games with at least one point and dates back to a 4-3 loss at Charlotte on December 20th.

Adding a Goal: Gladiators forward Brandon Dietrich continues to lead the team in scoring and added his first goal in over a month in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Cottonmouths. Dietrich also had an assist in Saturday's contest to push his totals to 4 goals and 36 assists for 40 points on the season.

League Leader: Forward Cam Brown added seven minutes to his all time penalty minute mark in Friday's 3-2 loss at Columbia. Brown entered the season in fourth place all time in the ECHL for most penalty minutes with 2,084. He has tallied 123 this season to push his all time total to 2,207 and move into third all time. Brown trails Jason Clarke's 2,246 by 39 minutes and all time league leader Brian Goudie by 46 minutes.

Between the Pipes: Despite coming out of the week without a win, Gladiators netminder Trevor Prior posted a 2.63 goals against average and a .905 save percentage in three starts for the Gladiators. Prior was acquired from the Columbia Inferno last week after Michael Garnett was recalled to the Chicago Wolves.

College Night: Thursday, February 5th is College Night at the Arena at Gwinnett Center when the Charlotte Checkers are in town. Present a valid college ID at the Arena at Gwinnett Center box office and receive a $5 mezzanine level ticket for the game. A post game club college hockey game follows the Gladiators game.
