Atlanta Gladiators News Release

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that they have agreed to terms with forward Dan Sullivan for the 2010-2011 season.

"Sully has worked hard in all situations sacrificing to try to help the team as much as he can and I think he is learning more and more as he goes," said Gladiators Head Coach Jeff Pyle. "He thinks a lot of our organization and deserves a chance to prove he should be here. He knows there is no guarantee but he is healthy and in great shape and has looked good in the skating sessions I have watched. He brings an element we need. He hits, he fights and he can score."

Sullivan returns to Gwinnett after skating with the Gladiators during each of the past two seasons. He finished with 33 points (15 goals, 18 assists) in 50 games last season. Sullivan also posted 72 penalty minutes during the year, his lowest season total in that category in a complete season in his professional career. During the 2008-09 season, Sullivan played in a career best 70 games for the Gladiators.

Prior to joining the Gwinnett, Sullivan played two seasons with the Pensacola Ice Pilots from 2006-2008 where he recorded 75 points (32 goals, 25 assists) in 117 game. His 245 penalty minutes ranked fourth overall in the ECHL in that category during the 2006-07 season.

The Weston, Ontario, native spent part of two seasons with Augusta from 2004-2006 earning a combined 53 points (23 goals, 30 assists) with the Lynx. Sullivan was acquired by Augusta from Louisiana during the 2004-05 season and he began the year in Reading before being traded to the IceGators. Sullivan finished the season with a combined 20 points (nine goals, 11 assists) in 52 games with Augusta, Louisiana and Reading.

The 6-foot-2, 225-pound forward began his professional career during the 2002-03 season with the Roanoke Express before being traded to the Baton Rouge Kingfish. During his rookie campaign with Roanoke and Baton Rouge, Sullivan recorded 18 points (eight goals, 10 assists) in 46 games.

Sullivan has also appeared in six American Hockey League games in his career. He had an assist in five AHL games with the Lowell Lock Monsters at the conclusion of his rookie season in 2002-03 and skated in one game with Lowell during the 2003-04 season but did not register a point.

The Gwinnett Gladiators open the 2010-11 season on the road before returning home to host the South Carolina Stingrays on Friday, October 22nd at 7:35 p.m. The Gladiators are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
