
Gladiators prevail on the road in Nashville, 40-32

Nashville, TN â Gladiators quarterback Craig Whelihan led Las Vegas to victory on the road in Nashville, TN, against the Kats 40-32 at the Gaylord Entertainment Center in front of 16,420 in attendance.
Whelihan finished the day 26-of-39 for 267 yards with five touchdown passes despite one interception. He found Marcus Nash on eight different occasions including two for touchdowns.
On the final drive of the game for the Gladiators, Whelihan capped off a five play, 31 yard drive by hitting Nash in the back of the endzone for a four-yard strike. Las Vegas would then hold Nashville on defense and secure the victory.
Las Vegas' defense came out and performed like they have all season. They held the Kats to 13 points in the second half after trailing at halftime 19-17. They also tied a franchise record with a combined 42 total tackles. Defensive specialist Jeremy Unertl led the team with 10.5 tackles.
ADT Defensive Player of the Game Frank Carter led the Gladiators' defensive pressure on Kats' quarterback Tony Zimmerman. Carter recorded two sacks in the game and now has seven sacks on the season.
The Gladiators held the Kats' offense to zero points in the third quarter after kicker Gary Kral missed on two consecutive field-goal attempts. He finished the day missing 3-for-5 on field-goals and was 2-for-3 on extra-points.
Zimmerman finished 25-of-38 for 272 yards with one touchdown pass and one rushing touchdown. Nashville's Darryl Hammond caught eight passes for 112 yards in the loss.
U.S. Army Ironman of the Game Coco Blalock caught four passes for 52 yards with one touchdown and returned three kicks for 38 yards. On defense, he tallied 3.5 tackles.
The Gladiators return home to the Thomas & Mack Center to face the Austin Wranglers on Friday, March 4, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. PT. The game will be heard on ESPN Radio 920 with Andrew Siciliano and Mike Pritchard calling the game.
