Duke City Gladiators News Release
Albuquerque, N.M. - The Duke City Gladiators head out of town this week as they face the San Angelo Bandits in game two of their regular season. The Gladiators suffered their first loss of the season in Wichita, KS against the Force this past Saturday night.
In Wichita, Duke City had a bit of a struggle to get a rhythm going. The defense wrestled with their tempo to stop the Force and offense couldn't get the timing down right. The Gladiators put up just 28 points compared to Wichita's 59. Coach Bramante said, "We need to make the proper adjustments now as we head into our week 2." QB Taylor Genuser completed 18 of 43 pass attempts for 212 passing yards and 4 touchdowns. Dello Davis grabbed 5 passes for 92 yards and 2 touchdowns. And on defense, Tony Bell and Ray Berry had 10 and 7 solo tackles respectively.
As the Gladiators head to San Angelo this Saturday for division play, the focus is on the offense and what needs to be done to jumpstart the chemistry. To execute this, the Gladiators have brought in quarterback Bryan Randall. Randall last played with the Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League in the 2015 season and has 3 seasons of AFL experience. He is a Virginia Tech alumnus where he was ACC Player of the Year from 2004-2005 as he Guided the Hokies to the program's first ACC Championship and a berth in the 2005 Sugar Bowl as a senior in 2004. The 6'2", 220 lb. QB played with the Laredo Rattlesnakes in the former Lone Star Football League where he was League MVP in 2013. Coach Bramante feels that, "Having an opportunity to sign a talented QB of such caliber is one we have to jump on. We are excited to have Bryan a part of the organization." Current QB Taylor Genuser is being moved to the backup position as of right now.
