Gladiators Acquire Bees from Columbus

Las Vegas, NV – The Las Vegas Gladiators have acquired quarterback Bob Bees from the Columbus Destroyers in exchange for future considerations head coach Frank Haege announced today. The Gladiators also came to terms with OL/DL's Joe Burch, Tim Croff and QB Rod Robinson.

Bees (6-3, 215, Rocky Mountain College) is a two-year veteran of the AFL. Bees was the starting quarterback for the remaining four games of the season in 2003 for the Buffalo Destroyers after being acquired from the San Jose SaberCats mid-season. He contributed last season with 16 touchdown passes on 72-of-128 completions. Prior to joining the AFL, Bees was played in af2 from 2000-2002 with the Richmond Speed.

Burch (6-2, 296, Texas Southern) joins the Gladiators after a year away from the Arena Football League. The eight-year veteran will be one of the cornerstones of the Gladiators front line. From 1996-1999 he was with the Arizona Rattlers before joining the Houston Thunderbears. He later rejoined the Rattlers for the 2001-2002 seasons. In 1996 he began his career with the Connecticut Coyotes before being traded to the Rattlers for current New York Dragons QB Aaron Garcia.

Croff (6-3, 280, Carson-Newman) joins the Gladiators for his third season in the Arena Football League in 2004. He began his career with the New Jersey Gladiators in 2001 and was later signed as a free agent with the Arizona Rattlers. In 2003, he appeared in 12 regular season games for Arizona, making six total tackles, one pass breakup, one quarterback hurry, one blocked kick and intercepted a pass returned for a touchdown.

Robinson (6-4, 210, Arkansas Pine Bluff) enters his first season in the Arena Football League after one season in af2 with the Memphis Xployers and three seasons in the NFL. In Memphis he completed 217-of-369 passes for 2739 yards and 53 touchdowns. He also rushed the ball 25 times for 100 yards and had seven touchdowns. While in the NFL he was the number three quarterback for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Indianapolis Colts throughout the 2000-2002 seasons, but never saw action.
