Colorado Crush News Release

DENVER - The Colorado Crush of the Arena Football League has added AFL veteran running back-linebacker John Peaua to its roster, signing the 6-foot-3, 266-pound player as a free agent.

Terms of Peaua's contract were not disclosed

Peaua has three seasons of AFL experience, all with the Arizona Rattlers, who last season advanced all the way to the Arena Bowl before losing to Arena Bowl champion Tampa Bay. Peau rushed for one touchdown and caught three passes and recorded four tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery during the Rattlers' playoff run in 2002. He played in two of the Rattlers' playoff games last season.

"We're real excited about signing John," Crush head coach Mike Dailey said. "He's been a real good player in this league for three years and he's a tremendous competitor with a great "motor." We're very happy to have him on the Crush."

Peaua _ pronounced "Pow-ah" _ finished his college career at University of Nevada after transferring from Iowa. He had an injury-plagued rookie season with Arizona in 2001, appearing in only three games, but was an outstanding performer for the Rattlers the past two seasons.

Peaua is the 13th free agent player to agree to terms with the Crush since the AFL's free agent signing period began on Oct. 15. Previously announced were: quarterbacks Matt Lytle, Jose Davis and Jay McDonagh, fullback-linebacker Rich Young, two-way linemen Hugh Hunter and Pat Downey, defensive specialist Rashad Floyd, wide receivers Darcey Levy, Robert Redd, Willis Marshall and Margin Hooks and kicker Anthony Brenner.

Season tickets for the 2004 Crush now are available. For information, call 303-352-1000, or visit coloradocrush.com. The Crush's season opener is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 6, vs. the Las Vegas Gladiators at Pepsi Center.

The AFL begins its second season on NBC-TV on Feb. 8. The Crush's first game on NBC-TV is scheduled for Feb. 22, against the Chicago Rush at Chicago's United Center.
