JUPITER, Fla. - Wilfredo Gimenez reached base four times and RHP Jose Urena pitched seven innings of one-run ball as Jupiter salvaged a series split with Daytona in their 8-4 win Thursday morning at Roger Dean Stadium.

Gimenez's first base hit drove in Ryan Goetz in Jupiter's three-run second inning. The next batter, Josh Adams, doubled to left field. Gimenez scored from first base, knocking the ball loose from the grip of Cubs catcher, Chad Noble, in a collision at home plate.

Gimenez was plunked on the first pitch of his next at-bat, causing the benches to clear. No punches were thrown, but warnings were issued to both dugouts. The Hammerheads' catcher completed his perfect day at the plate with base hits in the sixth and eighth innings.

Ryan Rieger also had three hits for Jupiter, including two RBI singles and a double.

John Andreoli went 3-for-5 with a triple and two runs scored for Daytona, raising his season batting average to .305.

Urena allowed eight hits in seven innings, walking just one. He was efficient with his pitches, throwing 48 of 81 (59 percent) for strikes, while topping out at 94 mph on the stadium radar gun.

RHP Nick Wittgren recorded the final four outs to tally his 10th save of the season. His three strikeouts were the only such outs recorded by Hammerheads' pitchers. Wittgren now has 30 punch outs in 25.1 innings with a 0.71 ERA, making himself a strong candidate for the Florida State League All-Star Game next month.

Casey Kotchman was added to the roster before the game, marking the third time in as many days that Jupiter has started a player on Major League rehab assignment. Kotchman went 1-for-5 with an RBI groundout.

Despite scoring eight runs in the win, Jupiter batters were 3-for-19 (.158) with runners in scoring position, stranding nine base runners.

After splitting the four-game series with Daytona, Jupiter has now won 19 of their last 24-a stretch that includes two nine-game winning streaks.

The Hammerheads will kickoff a three-game weekend series with the Palm Beach Cardinals Friday night at Roger Dean Stadium. LHP Justin Nicolino (1-1, 2.89) will try for his third straight scoreless outing. Palm Beach has yet to announce their probable starting pitcher.
