Spokane Shock News Release
Spokane, WA: The arenafootball2 league office announced today that DB Sergio Gilliam was selected as the af2's Defensive Player of the week for round-one of the playoffs.
Gilliam tied a new post-season af2 record after he collected three interceptions in Spokane's win over Stockton. Additionally, Gilliam collected a season-high ten tackles against the Lightning.
Gilliam returned his third interception 52-yards for a touchdown and the final score of the game. Despite his individual accomplishments, Gilliam was quick to give credit to his defensive teammates, who put continuous pressure on Lightning QB Chad Cavendar.
"Anytime I get interceptions the defensive line is a big part of that," Gilliam explained. "Now we just need to keep it up and hopefully we will be on this journey for three more weeks."
Spokane will host the Boise Burn this weekend for the Conference Championship Semi-Finals this Saturday with a 7 PM kickoff. Tickets for the game are on sale now and can be purchased through TicketsWest.
