Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz News Release
OKLAHOMA CITY - After an incredible offensive performance against the Tulsa Talons in the first round of the playoffs, Yard Dawgz rookie QB Tommy Grady was named the Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Week by the af2 league office.
Grady (6-7, 240, Oklahoma) had a record-setting showing for the seventh seeded Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz (7-10) in the team's first round playoff matchup against in-state and Central Division arch rival Tulsa Talons (14-3). Despite the result, a 90-75 loss to the Talons, the rookie signal caller set an af2 postseason record with 507 yards passing against the Central Division Champions. Grady, in just his third career start under center for the Dawgz, became the first player in the league's 10-year history to eclipse 500 yards passing in a single game. He also completed 32-of-51 passes on the night, including a postseason-record tying 10 touchdowns against just one interception. This is the first weekly league honor of Grady's career. He threw for nearly 1,200 yards (1,194) and 23 TDs with just three INTs in his three games played.
Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Week candidates included:
Iowa's Brian Villanueva, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's Irving Campbell, Kentucky's Jared Lorenzen and Justin Rascati, Bossier-Shreveport's P.J. Berry, Green Bay's Anthony Crissinger-Hill, Spokane's Nick Davila and Boise's Nichiren Flowers.
