
Gibson Stays Home Because Of Personal Reasons

Pensacola, FL - The Pensacola Ice Pilots, under the ownership group of Hockey Enterprises of Pensacola L.L.C. with owner Tim Kerr, announced that forward Brett Gibson will not report to training camp and play for the Ice Pilots this season because of personal reasons. Gibson is playing hockey in a Senior League in his hometown of Kingston, Ontario and will also help coach the Kingston Frontenacs of the OHL in order to be with his family.
Gibson, who is 25 years old, played in 45 regular season games for the Ice Pilots last season scoring 11 goals, 2 assists for 13 points and picked up 32 penalty minutes and played in all five Kelly Cup Playoff games picking up four penalty minutes. He also played for Johnstown in the ECHL, Erie, North Bay and London in the OHL and at St. Mary's University.
The Ice Pilots began training camp this morning with 20 players reporting at the Pensacola Civic Center under new Head Coach Dave Farrish and will practice again tomorrow at the Civic Center at 11:00 a.m. which is open to the public.
"The first day of practice I thought was excellent as we have a lot of big guys on the ice with a lot of good skill level which makes it an exciting hockey club. What I am looking for from the players in the first day is their athletic ability, skill and intelligence," said Ice Pilots Head Coach Dave Farrish. "There are a lot of drills with thinking involved and I want to see what guys will grasp the situation as quick as possible and after that we will work on our system one day at a time."
The Ice Pilots will play two home preseason games vs. the Gwinnett Gladiators at the Pensacola Civic Center on Friday, October 15 and Saturday, October 16 with both games beginning at 7:05 p.m.
Individual game tickets for the Ice Pilots two home preseason games are now on sale. Cost of individual game tickets for the two preseason games are $10 for all lower level seats and $5 for all upper level seats.
Individual game tickets for all 36 home games during the regular season will go on sale Friday, October 15 at 10:00 a.m. Cost for individual game tickets during the regular season are $22 for floor and glass, $15 for sides, $13 for behind the goal and lower upper level and $10 for upper level seats.
Fans can purchase individual game tickets for all 36 home games and the two preseason games in person at the Civic Center Box office, at any Ticketmaster location, Charge by Phone at 850-434-7444 or through the Ice Pilots website at www.icepilots.com.
The Ice Pilots under new Head Coach Dave Farrish will begin the 2004-2005 regular season at Mississippi on October 23 and play their home opener Saturday, October 30 vs. the Kelly Cup Finalists Florida Everblades at 7:05 p.m.
Season tickets for all 36 home games for floor and glass seats are $649.44, side seats are $459.00, goal seats and lower upper seats are $411.84 and upper seats cost $324.00 16 game plans, 8 game plans and flex packs also are available. Fans can call the Ice Pilots office at 432-7825 for season ticket and corporate sponsorship information.
Season ticket holders are reminded that all preseason and regular season tickets must be picked up in person. Tickets will not be mailed out this year. Through Opening Night, the Ice Pilots office will be open on Saturday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Preseason tickets are available for pickup effective immediately and any tickets not picked up by 5 p.m. on Friday, October 15 will be available for pickup at Will Call at the front of the Civic Center.
Regular season tickets will be available for pickup at both preseason games and in the Ice Pilots office starting Monday, October 18. Any tickets not picked up by 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 30 (Opening Night) will be available for pickup at Will Call at the front of the Civic Center.
The Ice Pilots are curren tly looking for housing for players for the regular season. The Ice Pilots regular housing is not available because of Hurricane Ivan. If anybody can help out with player housing, please call the Ice Pilots at 432-7825.
