Vancouver Giants News Release

The Vancouver Giants have snapped out of a losing streak as they prepare for a busy week on the road in the WHL's Central Division.

Last Friday, the Giants picked up their 8th victory of the season by edging out the Brandon Wheat Kings 2-1 in front of just under 8000 at the Pacific Coliseum. Chad Scharff and Mitch Bartley scored the Giants goals while Gilbert Brule added two assists. Marek Schwarz, making his 14th straight start in goal, registered the win on a night where the Giants out-shot the Wheat Kings 34-23.

The team has now embarked on a stretch of 5-games-in-6-nights in the Central Division. The Giants play the WHL-leading Medicine Hat Tigers Tuesday Nov. 2 (6:00pm PST). The following night, the Giants play their only game in Saskatchewan this season against the Swift Current Broncos (5:00pm PST). After that game, the team will travel back to Alberta for a day-off at a guest ranch owned by the parents of Phoenix Coyotes forward Shane Doan.

The Giants will be back on the ice to play the Red Deer Rebels Friday Nov. 5 (6:30pm PST). Saturday Nov. 5, the Giants are in Lethbridge to play the Hurricanes (6:30pm PST). Vancouver will wrap up its road trip Sunday Nov. 6 against the Calgary Hitmen (4:00pm PST). All Giants games can be heard on MOJO Sports Radio AM 730.
