Alexandria Aces News Release


The Alexandria Aces are searching for a unique and talented individual to fill the shoes (and head) of their mascot, Alex the Ace. Tryouts will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at Bringhurst Field in Alexandria, La.

Tryout participants will be asked to perform an original two-to-three minute skit and provide their own music. Candidates will be evaluated on creativity, originality, character/personality, impromptu and overall crowd appeal.

The mascot position will be part of the team's student internship program. Interested persons should contact the Aces office at (318) 473-2237 to guarantee their spot at the tryout.

ACES OFFER SUMMER INTERNSHIPS

Internships with the Aces allow students the opportunity to gain valuable job experience. All interns will be responsible for daily office and varying game-day duties as well as learning the appropriate skills necessary to conduct themselves within a professional atmosphere.

The intern position offers class credit, housing and a small stipend. All interested candidates should fax a cover letter and resume to the Aces office at (318) 473-2229.

The Central Baseball League's Alexandria Aces, preparing for their 10th season of independent baseball, will play a 96-game schedule between May and August 2003.

The 10-member league has teams located in Amarillo, Edinburg, Rio Grande Valley (Harlingen), San Angelo, Robstown and Ft. Worth, Texas; Alexandria and Shreveport, La.; Springfield/Ozark, Mo.; and Jackson, Miss.
