Aberdeen, MD "" The Connecticut Tigers (21-21) defeated the Aberdeen IronBirds (13-28) by the score of 2-0 Saturday night at Ripken Stadium. For the third consecutive game the Tigers entered the ninth inning struggling to produce with runners in scoring position as they were 0-for-7 through the first eight innings. DH Rashad Brown (1-3) walked and stole second base to start a scoreless ninth inning off. With one out, RF Mike Gerber (1-4) then delivered the go-ahead two-run homerun to put the Tigers out in front 2-0. It was the third consecutive game the Tigers scored on a clutch ninth inning run.

The Tigers pitching was spectacular during the three-game series with Aberdeen as they held the IronBirds offense to just four runs over 28 innings. The Tigers used four pitchers that combined for the nine inning shutout victory. Starter RHP Fernando Perez pitched five shutout innings while giving up four hits and struck out five batters. RHP Jack Fischer pitched two shutout innings in relief of Perez. RHP Gabe Hemmer (2-0) picked up his second win of the season as he pitched one shutout inning while striking out all three batters he faced. RHP Paul Voelker (S, 1) picked up his first professional save of his career as he pitched a perfect ninth inning. It was the Tigers fifth shutout victory of the season.

In the win, the Tigers didn't produce that much offense as they were held to just five hits in the game in 32 at bats and struck out 10 times. The offense got the key hit when it mattered the most from Gerber with his ninth inning two-run homerun. It was Gerber's fifth homerun of the season and RBI's 25 and 26. C Franklin Navarro (1-3) chipped in with his first triple of the season as it was his only hit of the game.

The Tigers head home for a three-game homestand with the Staten Island Yankees.
