Georgia Swarm News Release
DULUTH, GA. - The Georgia Swarm (1-1) is gearing up for a rematch against the Colorado Mammoth (0-1) on Friday night, December 22nd, in Denver, Colorado.
Following their recent game against the Vancouver Warriors, which concluded with a 7-15 scoreline, last week marked the first time the Swarm faced Vancouver since February 2020. Unfortunately, the game ended in their first-ever loss to Vancouver, highlighting the team's challenges in preventing Vancouver from scoring. Undeterred, the Swarm is focused on bouncing back from this defeat and is determined to secure their second win of the season against the Colorado Mammoth.
The Colorado Mammoth, coming off a bye week, is in search of their first win of the season. In their last game against the Swarm, forward Eli McLaughlin from Colorado scored first by finishing a quick backdoor feed from Tyson Gibson, granting his squad an early 1-0 lead. However, less than a minute later, the Swarm forward Brendan Bomberry answered back, knotting the game at one per side. The game resulted in back-and-forth shooting until the Swarm pulled ahead at the end of the second half and never let the Mammoth take the lead again. Swarm won 16-10 against the Mammoth on December 9, 2023 at Gas South Arena, Georgia.
The Swarm's historical success against Colorado on the road includes their last win on March 1, 2017, with a 21-13 victory. Out of the 10 wins against Colorado, four were achieved on the road.
Key statistics for the Swarm include Lyle Thompson leading in points (12) and in goals (6), Andrew Kew closely behind, leading in points (9) and assists (6), followed by Shayne Jackson with four goals.
Goalie Brett Dobson, with two starts, has 93 saves, a .740 save percentage, and a 12.9 goals-against average. Defensively, Jordan MacIntosh leads in loose ball pickups (17), Jeremy Thompson has 16, and blocked shots are led by John Ranagan (4).
Following the Colorado matchup, the Swarm will face the Buffalo Bandits in Buffalo, NY, before returning home on January 6th to take on Panther City.
