
Georgia Swarm Fall to the Albany FireWolves, 8-12

DULUTH, GA. - The Georgia Swarm (4-2) fell to the Albany FireWolves (6-0), 8-12 on January 13, 2023, at Gas South Arena, Duluth GA.
Swarm players Shayne Jackson and Bryan Cole each earned honors as Jackson earned his 800th career point and Cole recorded his 400th loose ball recovery.
Lyle Thompson led the Swarm in goals on Saturday, with three goals and an assist, securing himself a hat trick. Brendan Bomberry followed with two goals and an assist. Shayne Jackson led in assists with four. Goalie Brett Dobson saved 21 out of 31 shots on goal and secondary goalie Angus Goodleaf allowed only 1 of 13.
Albany struck first in the first quarter, followed by a Swarm goal from Jordan MacIntosh. The FireWolves scored three straight before Bomberry closed out the first quarter with a goal, down 2-4.
During the second quarter, Albany kept the momentum and outscored the Swarm 4-1. Swarm struggled to maintain offense possession as Albany won 75% of face offs throughout the game. Going in to the half, Albany lead 8-3.
Quiet third quarter as the Swarm held Albany to only two goals in the third, Zach Miller scored Georgia's only goal of the third.
With one quarter left, the Swarm came out strong with back-to-back goals from Lyle Thompson. Albany scored again before another back-to-back showing from the Swarm. Lyle Thompson and Andrew Kew scored another goal for the Swarm. However, the Swarm's momentum wasn't enough as Albany scored another goal to secured the win for the FireWolves 12-8. FireWolves remain undefeated with a 6-0 record.
The Swarm is back on the road and will travel to FirstOntario Centre to take on Toronto Rock (4-0) on January 20 at 7:00 p.m. EST.
