Georgia Force's Derek Lee named AFLWA\'s Player of the Week

FLOWERY BRANCH, GA, March 15, 2005 â The Arena Football Writers Association (AFLWA) announced today that Georgia Force wide receiver/ linebacker Derek Lee was named the AFLWA's Player of the Week.
Lee established three new Force single-game records with his six receiving touchdowns, 11 receptions and 36 points scored while gaining a game-high 148 receiving yards against the New York Dragons last Saturday. His six receiving touchdowns are the most by any AFL player this year and his 36 points scored is tied for best in the League this season.
On the season, Lee, a rookie from Tennessee Tech, has 51 catches for 624 yards and 17 touchdowns and has contributed on defense with 10 tackles and two fumble recoveries. He currently ranks in the Top 10 in the AFL in all receiving categories.
The AFLWA, founded at the start of the 2004 season, is a national organization made up of media members who cover the Arena Football League. Mark Anderson of the Las Vegas Review-Journal is the AFLWA's founder and executive director. The Web site is www.aflwa.com.
