Georgia Force News Release

FIRST PRACTICE: The Force stepped on the field at 8:30 a.m. for a light practice before Nashville arrived in the afternoon. After special teams and three-on-three drills the groups came together for the team portion of practice. Early in the session, rookie LB Doug Harding batted down a screen pass from QB Chris Greisen that was intended for WR Chris Jackson. Greisen redeemed himself a couple of plays later when he connected with Jackson on a corner route in the back of the endzone from 35 yards out. Two plays later, DB Rober' Freeman intercepted a pass from Greisen in the endzone. Following the play, Greisen went to Freeman and congratulated him on a job well done. Rookie QB James MacPherson connected with newly acquired WR Matt Thomas for a touchdown late in practice.

SECOND PRACTICE: Nashville arrived at 12:30 p.m. and at 3:45 p.m. the two teams met on the field to take part in a combined practice. During the one-on-one period WR Derek Lee and Thomas both got behind defenders for long touchdown grabs. Once three-on-three drills began the intensity picked up. Rookie DB David Crocker knocked a Kats receiver to the ground at the line of scrimmage on the very first series and later another rookie, DB Troy Graham, hauled in an interception. Greisen was able to connect on three touchdowns throughout the session, twice with Jackson and once with Lee. MacPherson rounded out the drills with a touchdown pass to WR/DB Jarrick Hillery. The Force performed well in the team portion of practice, with Greisen connecting with Lee on two occasions for touchdowns. QB Ryan Vena added a pair of touchdown passes too, as he found Thomas and Graham in the endzone. FB/LB Umar Muhammad, DL Prentice Purnell and LB Eric Johnson were all in position to sack the quarterback during the drills.

"It was good for us to be on the field with another team today," said head coach Doug Plank on Thursday's practice. "We are looking forward to getting some more work in tomorrow and being able to get a better look at our players in a game situation. It will be an exciting time for our season ticket holders that are in attendance."
