
Soul sign AFL veteran Charles Pauley

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Soul have signed WR Charles Pauley and activated WR Isaac West from the Other League Exempt. As per club policy, terms of their deals were not disclosed.
Pauley, (5'10", 165, San Jose State) a three-year AFL veteran, comes to Philadelphia after playing for the San Jose SaberCats last season. Prior to joining the SaberCats in 2006, he was the first selection in the 2005 AFL Expansion Draft by the Chicago Rush. Pauley entered the League in 2004 with the ArenaBowl Champion SaberCats. During his three years in the League, he has caught 77 receptions for 990 yards with 14 touchdowns and an average of 13.9 yards per carry.
West (6'0", 186, Furman) joins the Soul for the 2007 season as a rookie. He was signed by Philadelphia prior to last season, but was placed on the Other League Exempt list. He went through training camp with the Pittsburgh Steelers and was later signed during the season. West played at Furman University where he finished his career as Furman's all-time leader in receptions (140) and receiving yards (2,300). He caught 16 touchdown passes in his Paladin tenure to rank fourth all-time in school history. In 2004, he registered new school records for receptions (60) and receiving yards (1,006) and caught six touchdown passes in helping Furman to a 10-3 record and Southern Conference championship. Following his collegiate career, West began his professional career in training camp with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2005.
