Nashville SC faces off against Charlotte FC in league action after a disappointing end to the Boys in Gold's run in the Concacaf Champions Cup.
Key Storylines
The state of Charlotte's squad - Charlotte FC has a different look on the field this season. Designated Player Karol Swiderski is on loan at Serie A club Hellas Verona in Italy, while fellow forward Kamil Jozwiak made a transfer to Granada in La Liga. Enzo Copetti is the club's only returning DP. Charlotte also boosted their ranks with the recent addition of Liel Abada as a Young DP from Scottish club Celtic FC. Abada could make his MLS debut against the Boys in Gold.
Matchup history - These regional rivals have faced off three times in the last two seasons. Charlotte won the first matchup 4-1, and Nashville defeated Charlotte 2-1 in their second meeting. After a 1-1 draw last season, the record between the two sides is at a perfect balance. Both teams scored in stoppage time during that 1-1 draw.
Players To Watch
For the second time in less than a week, a Nashville SC player could face off against their former team. McKinze Gaines, another new acquisition for Nashville SC, spent the last two seasons at Charlotte FC. With his dizzying footwork and direct style of play, Gaines could make an impact and put on a show during Saturday's matchup.
As previously mentioned, Liel Abada could make his Charlotte debut at GEODIS Park. He made 30 goal contributions across 75 appearances for Celtic across three seasons.
