Gens Struggle in Barrie

Barrie Barrie, Ontario - The Colts defeated the Generals Saturday night 5-1 before a crowd of 4,276 at the Barrie Molson Centre. Christian Thomas scored the lone marker for Oshawa. Daniel Altshuller got the start in goal and made 32 saves in the loss. Barrie shot out to a 3-0 lead in the first 4 minutes of the game and never looked back. With Peterborough's win over Ottawa today, the playoff picture has tightened, but the Generals still hold on to 6th place in the Eastern Conference. Oshawa had a tough opening twenty minutes. Barrie got off to a great start scoring on 3 of their first 5 shots. Their goals came from Colin Behenna, Steven Beyers on the power play, and Ivan Telegin. Tanner Pearson notched his 33rd of the season to put Barrie up 4-0 in the second. Oshawa's power play got the Generals on the board at 6:14. Thomas ripped his 29th of the season past Mathias Niederberger. Barrie added 1 more in the third when Telegin scored his second of the night and the game ended 5-1 for Barrie. Barrie outshot Oshawa 37-27 on the evening. Oshawa has a chance to get even on Family Day, this Monday February 20th when they take on the Colts at the General Motors Centre in Oshawa. Faceoff goes at 2:05 PM. It's the final 75th anniversary game of the season, and the Generals will be wearing their red commemorative jerseys. Bring out the whole family!
